Sheridan, Oregon (population 6,277) is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking leader to join the community and help envision its bright future. Located off Highway 18 in Oregon’s scenic wine country, with the South Yamhill River running through town, Sheridan enjoys a beautiful environment and a wealth of opportunity to support development of new business and community assets that honor the city’s rich heritage.

The ideal candidate should be a forward-thinking leader with well-rounded management abilities that promote a collaborative and professional organization. An understanding of Council-Manager government roles is important, with desired attributes and skills including: facilitating strong Council relations, public finance excellence, knowledge of public works, excellent communication skills, creative financing and economic development approaches, and ability to foster strong intergovernmental relations. A commitment to promote constructive community engagement and a genuine appreciation for the people, history, and small-town spirit of Sheridan is essential.

Education / Experience

The City Manager position requires a bachelor’s degree in public administration, planning, political science, or related field, and at least three years of upper-level local government management experience, including personnel management, budget and finance administration, and grant procurement. The City Council will consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.

The City prefers a candidate with an advanced degree in public administration or a related field, and at least five or more years of experience in increasingly responsible public sector management. Experience and/or training in public works infrastructure projects and/or downtown revitalization is highly desired.

Compensation is $120,000 - $150,000
