Medford 2040 VISION AND ACTION Plan

Jensen Strategies served as the primary consultant facilitating a comprehensive community visioning process to develop a preferred 20-year vision and action plan for Medford, Oregon. The process included a City Council appointed citizen Task Force charged with recommending a preferred vision and an action plan to implement it. A parallel, but integrated, multi-faceted public input process will inform the Task Force’s work to develop the projects. Jensen Strategies managed the project including facilitating the Task Force and working in collaboration with public involvement and community development subconsultants. The outcome of this project was a community vision and action plan that is based on community input with a tangible framework and actions to implement it.

The core elements of the Action Plan development process included two integrated components:

(1) A citizen-led Strategic Vision Action Plan Task Force

(2) A community/stakeholder engagement process utilizing multiple outreach tools

The Task Force was appointed by the City Council and was comprised of citizen representatives charged with developing the Strategic Action Plan based on input from the community.  The group included representatives from important organizations and interests such as higher education, healthcare, small businesses, the local school district, the senior community, arts, youth, the faith community, young professionals, downtown, community safety, banking, real estate, local utilities, and the media. It was chaired by a representative of the citizens-at-large.

Community Outreach Process: The community/stakeholder engagement process provided the core information for the Task Force’s work. This process was used both to inform the public and other stakeholders about the project and to solicit ideas for the Strategic Action Plan. It included a multi-faceted approach to engage the public, community leaders, City Council members, and City of Lebanon staff. A variety of outreach methods were utilized including stakeholder interviews, online surveys, community workshop, project website, Facebook page, and media engagement.

“I would recommend Jensen Strategies to any community or organization looking to update their vision and action plans. The process is well thought out and created real and achievable actions as a result of the staff guiding the community taskforce. “
— Brian Sjothun, Former City Manager, City of Medford

Tualatin Soil and WaTER Conservation District Strategic Plan

Jensen Strategies worked with the Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District (TSWCD) to help them develop their five-year strategic plan.  The project included facilitating a strategic planning committee comprised of TSWCD Board members and managers to develop organizational goals, an action plan, and an implementation process.   The process was informed by stakeholder interviews as well as staff and organizational partner input.

Jensen Strategies helped the District to revisit, renew, and update their five-year strategic plan in a format that brought clarity to the plan without losing its core intent.  In addition, a tangible action plan with a schedule and responsible parties, was developed which was designed to fit with the structure and function of the District.

“Jensen Strategies was excellent to work with on our strategic planning process. They are highly skilled facilitators, organized, and provided a smooth process. I would highly recommend Jensen Strategies for anyone going through strategic planning. “
— Lacey Townsend, TSWCD Executive Director
